Most of them are generic, mediocre or barely above average. The serious arcs are the weakest aspect of Gintama. The problem that lies with Gintama or at least for me is that generally speaking it's only good at offering one singular thing and that's comedy. I swear you this, no one that has watched all 347 episodes (so far) of Gintama can say Gintama is a bad show. Otherwise, this is a mostly comedic series and Gintama is the king of comedy in this town. Art has improved since 2006 and remained consistently good. Sound is great especially the OPs for me, and each character gets their own soundtrack. The story is essentially nonexistent, but there are important arcs used to develop characters and right now the story is actually progressing with some major changes to the world these characters live in. The side characters aren't forgotten either, as they get their own feature episodes. The main characters are also developed very well, especially Gintoki and his mysterious past in a war. For example, the women don't rely on fanservice, having their own quirks, and are actually shown to be more manly than the men. I'll explain it a little more objectively rather than just "it's great" for because most people judge whether something is a masterpiece via objectivity.ĭespite starting off slow having to introduce characters, it has a large cast of likeable characters. Gintama is rated insanely high for a reason.
